Dark Knight and New York Don't Mix

According to the review compilation on Rotten Tomatoes, Dark Knight is an amazing film. Back in the 90% range, Dark Knight looks to be on this list of the highest rated summer movies (up there with Favreau's Iron Man, Pixar's Wall-E, and maybe even Del Toro's Hellboy 2).

However, things aren't perfect with a movie that is heralded by many critics as being "perfect". Just look at the rating--only a 91%--which must mean that a few people gave it the dreaded thumbs down.

These critics are:, New York Press, Time Out New York, Star Magazine, New York Magazine, and the New Yorker.

If you look at that list, there is something very interesting about the five of the six people that said Dark Knight was "godawful" and a "real buzzkill"--they are all from New York!

I don't know exactly what it is about New York and the Dark Knight but apparently the two just don't get along. I respect all of their opinions about the film because of course a movie isn't going to please anyone (I'm sure there's like 3 people out there that said the Godfather was too disturbing or violent), but I just think it's really interesting that New York based critics are the only ones that don't like a mature approach to comic book films (maybe they just want their comic books to stay focused for their inner child).
