Watchmen Trailer!

Thursday, July 17, 2008 Posted by Chris Tung , , No comments
Apparently, someone has leaked the official Watchmen trailer online. Originally, the trailer was supposed to be a surprise to comic book fans when they went to watch The Dark Knight that opens in theaters tomorrow (or anyone lucky enough to catch a special screening of Bale and Ledger's new super flick).

But for those of us who weren't able to watch the movie to catch a glimpse of the new Watchmen film, go to the link below to check it out.

Watchmen Movie

Some notes about what I've saw:

*SPOILERS* (for those of you who haven't read the book yet, you might not want to read on)

- I love the coloring of the film. It's dark and haunting to the viewer. Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons used a nonstandard color palette for their graphic novel, and I like that Snyder is modifying the color of his film to create a similar effect.

- Billy Crudup as Doc Manhattan. Amazing.

- Anyone who has read the book knows who killed the Comedian, but I like how the trailer subtly gives it away by showing the scene of some "mystery man" (Comediam) getting thrown out a window and the next shot just so happens to be Ozymandias. Brilliant.

- Jeffrey Dean Morgan looks fantastic as the Comedian. For some reason, when I think of Mr. Morgan, I imagine Denny Duket sitting on a hospital bed.

- The "will Rorschach's mask shift" question has been answered.

- For those who have no idea what Watchmen is, the trailer doesn't really help clarify anything; however, it does create a great approach to something entirely new. It places all the characters on screen but never reveals who the good guys. It shows how tumultuous the world is without showing what exact era it is going to take place in. It defines what a "teaser trailer" should be.
