For those of you that don't know, the Ultimate Spider-Man died a few weeks ago like a true hero. He sacrificed himself to protect the people he loved, and honestly, is there any other way for Peter Parker to go out?

But, like every comic book property, heroes don't really die, they just either come back in a new way or get brought back to life in increasingly bizarre ways [I'm looking at you Phoenix]. Bendis is actually choosing a more realistic way of ushering in a new age for Spider-Man with a completely different teen under the mask, and it's a completely new character. More importantly, he's a completely different race.

Miles Morales is a half-Black and half-Hispanic teen who chooses to fight crime as the webslinger for a yet to be revealed reason. The fact that Axel, Sana, and Bendis are choosing to diversify such an iconic character proves the positive steps that Marvel consistently takes to make a more modern comic universe. And although I am expecting a massive amount of hate mail and racist comments will eventually be hurled at Marvel for this shift, I, for one, am happy that diversity is being promoted in such a monumental way. [And also, this allows for the possible Donald Glover Spider-Man to happen in the future]
